My hat off to all CSS3.info readers.

My name is Mikolaj Sitek , but everybody knows me as Jalokim, (its just so much simpler isn’t it?). Some folks may know me, especially those from forumotion.com, cheers all :P. I am a young (20 yo)  freelance web designer and somewhat of a developer from Poland. Web design  became my new passion 3 years ago , earlier I was just a graphics artist and fiddling about in HTML and CSS.

The tools of my trade are as follows: For my graphics the one and only photoshop. I design sites with notepad and dreamweaver. I know CSS2 inside and out now I’m broadening my perspectives with CSS3. I picked up some javascript along the way and I am almost fluent in jquery :)

I am glad to help CSS3.info . I plan to bring some ,down to earth, CSS3 tutorials in a aesthetic and web 2,0 way. I’ll show how to use shadows without over doing them, I’ll show how to make buttons without actually using any image creating software. I hope to improve on tutorials already made, show alternatives and cooler, newer tricks.

Thank you for reading I’ll leave you with 2 vital links.
    My newly opened site
    Catch me on twitter

Hope to see more of you guys soon

Hm… did you tried Fireworks? If yes why you prefer over Photoshop?

Welcome on board Jalokim, looking forward to those tutorials.

      Thanks,
      Chris

@Emil , I’ve been using Photoshop for a long while and I know it like the back of my hand. Fireworks is OK but I’m a traditionalist. :P

@Will or should I say dragonfir. Thanks for your support

      @Chris , will do … hehe :P

Hm… If you really care about aesthetics, then you should know, that there should be no space before commas and fullstops, but it should be after them. So, instead of “Hey , this” you should write “Hey, this” etc. Hope your following posts will be more informative and correct.

       Is this for real?…

Ok, show us what you got :)

I feel that you need to work on your design and usability skills first.
Also you site is full of tables and divs, mixed in inline JavaScript.
Maybe it is time to drop Dramweaver and stick to notepad. You will learn a lot.

Hi Mikolaj, glad to see a fellow Pole! :-)

I recommend not using Notepad however as it injects a BOM (Byte Order Mark) in to the very beginning of your text files. You’ll want to use a text editor such as SuperEdi (free of course) and manually do a save-as option…then you’ll be able to remove the BOM.

Also for JavaScript you need to make sure you escape CDATA. Here is an example…

      //

That should knock out the majority of your site’s validation errors. It’s visually interesting though and that’s what most people will see. Good luck! :-)

Normally posts on this site are very professional and well written. This used lots of slang and didn’t say very much. Welcome to css3, but please improve your English.

    • 11.

Great, looking forward :). And don’t get put off by people telling you things about English. This site needs fresh and good tutorials, so if you can write those, you’ll be a hero. :)

I hope this isn’t the future direction of css3.info. I learned to love the site as a place full of high-quality information about the upcoming CSS3. But not as a place for “youngsters” advertising their – debatable – skills, it appears to be more like some Buzzword dropping/SEO bullshit. Sorry.

@ Andreas – I understand your concerns, but please rest assured css3.info will continue to deliver the quality of content you’ve grown to expect, however in our recent request for feedback a considerable amount of users also expressed an interest in more CSS3 tutorials, as well as continuing to deliver the latest news on CSS3 developments from the W3C and browser vendors.

A number of web designers have offered to write a series of tutorials for the website and will be given the opportunity to do so on a trial basis – i’ll let the community be the judge of their content, however please wait to judge these authors on the basis of their content rather than their introductory posts.

I suggested that the new authors make a small introductory post about themselves prior to posting their tutorials, looking back through the site’s archives this seemed to be how CSS3.info had worked in the past, however following feedback from users, in future any new authors will lead with their first actual article, rather than an introductory post – this seems to be the general consensus of opinion.

To those who have commented on Jalokims English – let’s not forget that CSS3.info appeals to a global audeince, not just those countries who speak English as a primary language. Poland is actually in our top ten countries in terms of traffic received.

Following feedback here I have asked Jalokim to consider a more formal approach to any future articles, however again I ask you to judge on the content of the articles to follow rather the authors grammatical use of the English language.

I will also shortly be restructuring the site and it’s RSS feeds so that those who wish to only follow the technical developments with CSS3 will be able to do so, and those who are looking for CSS3 tutorials and implementation guidance will be able to find this in a seperate section of the site. In the meantime, please with us.

      Kind Regards,
      Chris

      @ Ollie thank you

      ——-
I know how users dislike having to see foreign languages spoken on English sites so I’ll translate in brief:
(Aleksander said that he is also learning the web languages and asked for help)
@ Aleksander , najlepiej by było zkontaktować się z mną mailem (jalokimgraphics (małpa) gmail (kropka) com bądz przez stronki ktore podalem w artykule.

@ All – I do apologize for being rather vague in my article, guess I should have made my introduction as formal as my future articles.

As Chris has mentioned, I won’t be interfering with the information given on CSS3.info. I will use my skills (debatable or not) and experience to showcase the uses of the new CSS3 features.

      Cordially Jalokim
